Can anybody tell me if this kit is any good?

140925613028 it's on eBay

Thanks

Someone I know bought a cheap set of lighting kit similar to those listed on the item page. He says he's happy with them, in fact I manage to borrow them the one day and it was pretty good. One thing to note is, you get what you pay for, so don't expect them to be Bowens or Lencarta quality, refresh time will be slower.

I've also heard that cheap lights aren't as consistent as the more expensive kits.

I suppose it all depends if you just want the kit to learn and move on in the future.

Could u recommend any good but not over expensive sets, getting similar to what's in the listing well at least comes with umbrellas

I've looked at loads and there not making much sense to me :)

To be honest I would rather spend an amount to get a decent set rather than get cheap and have to buy another set later on! If I need to save up then will do :) x

Couldn't agree more - I think the danger with the eBay specials is that you are likely to get frustrated if they limit what you can consistently achieve and end up wanting to replace them.

The other thing to consider would be a couple of light stands and umbrella's for use with speed lights rather than actual studio lights?

With regard to studio heads personally I have a set of Elinchrom's and love them, but they weren't cheap. I have used Lencarta lights and couldn't fault them - Have a poke around the Lencarta site HERE

No,

so what should you be looking for? UK supplied from a recognised dealer so that you have support. For a long time I have owned Bowens and they are great but I have used Lencarta lights http://www.lencarta.com/ and own some of their accessories and absolutely no issue. I have also been demonstrating these http://www.photomart.co.uk/Catalogue/Studio-Lighting/Kits/Mono-Light-Kits/iLux-Light-Kits at Focus this week and they also would fit the bill.

Speedlights are not a replacement for studio lights but can make an alternative.

Mike

Lencarta are very good, and great value. Buy cheap, buy twice!!! I would not touch ebay stuff.
