Hi, I'll let you know what I bought recently just to give you an idea
1) Photosel 2 softboxes with 5400k (85W) lights.
2) Light stands x 2
3) Background cloth 3 x 6 metres, white.
4) background support x 2
5) PT-04C wireless flash set, 1 trigger and 2 receivers.
The lighting set (1 to 4) was second hand and triggers new came to £230.

What do you want it for?
A few shots a month of the kids and maybe those of your mates once a year?
Thinking of going to other peoples houses and making them pay their way?
Hoping to shoot the kids at a local playgroup/nursery?
All of these situations have different demands on the kit. The other thing is you will soon want to consider softboxes etc.
If you are looking at option 1 then you are spending about the right money, the others will need high quality kit that will treble your budget.
