hey guys,
this is the first thread for me in this great forum,,,, and i do need your opinion guys.

I have nice kit - Canon EOS 30D + 17-85mm f/4 IS USM + 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM + Battery grip (the new one) + speedlite 580 EX mark 2

I wanna get the most of that great kit and I'm into portrait photographs so i guess I'm missing the lighting kit and i would love to get some advises from you and i do want a kit to use at home and give me great results, I have a nice budget for it around 500 pounds

Feel free to advise and that would be much appreciated
Cheers :).

I bought Interfit from Warehouse Express. See Lastolite above, it seems to tick all the boxes without costing to much.

thanks mate, i will have a look at it, i want something last for long time and good quality

I looked around for a long time and went for the Elinchrom FX400 kit (2 heads, 2 stands, soft box, 2 umbrellas, and other accessories) as I wanted quality and to only buy once. The kit is about £589 including VAT from http://www.studiokitdirect.com/category.php?cat=Lighting&sub=Elinchrom+Lighting. There may be better prices out there but this is a reasonable estimate. I've since picked up additional secondhand Elinchrom 250 and 500 units off eBay for about £120 and £160 each.

Delighted with them and extremely well made, but the output is very strong even at lowest settings if you are using a wide aperture and I've sometimes had to use a ND filter (or I may be doing something wrong?). It will depend on the size of your studio area and if you plan to do full length and group shots. The FX100 kit is only a few pounds cheaper.

Elinchrom have one of the best names for professional studio strobe systems.

Thanks a lot phideaux.
was really nice information and it helped a lot, i guess i will go for it and do what you have done (buying extra lights from ebay later on)

I wanna thank you again

cheers.
