Hi all,

I'm looking for a lightweight lighting system for my home office to provide cleaner videos for video conferencing. I'm running a Logitech c920 webcam and have a Plantronics headset that provides more then adequate sound. The office is poorly lit from behind the desk, so I'm looking to add a soft light to provide better lighting to my face!

I usually am on video conferencing for a couple of hours each day, so don't want something too overpowering on my eyes! I'm also looking for a solution for my laptop to, as I work remotely a couple of days each week.

Any recommendations?

*ignore the messy desk; new desk is going in next week :-)

You could try improving the indirect lighting in the room. One option is to use an up-lighter or similar to bounce light off the walls and ceiling. That would give an overall soft light. You may have to use a fairly significant output from the lamp, but with low energy bulbs nowadays a 20W bulb puts out a similar amount of light to an old 150W incandescent. Alternatively you could opt for an up-lighter lampshade for the overhead light in the room. Not sure what colour your walls re but if they are anything but a pastel shade you could end up with some unusual flesh tones.

Thanks for the advice :-)

Maybe it's a tad silly but I haven't got a light on my desk currently. I have some video LED lights in my camera bag, so I'll have a play with positioning these as uplights and then replace with something more desk 'aesthetically' pleasing
