Lighting a room set

Im going to be doing some photos soon, basically where by I will be shooting a person fixing some furniture within a bright, ambient lit room. I will be using a two light set up, I was meant to have a lighting asst but have been let down last minute.

Any ideas on best placement of lights as a starting point? I know its hard to say without seeing the room but just some pointers or things toavoid would be great! :cool:

It isn't difficult, it's impossible:)
I never (conciously) know how I'm going to light anything until I actually start doing it. The whole point of lighting is to either create an effect or avoid a problem (or both combined) and until the problem is apparent it can't be worked around.

Also, you don't give any indication of the type of furniture. If it's soft furniture you may want to use oblique, strongly directional lighting to reveal the texture of the upholstery. If it's cabinet furniture you'll probably want to reveal the woodgrain, which again means using oblique lighting but running across the direction of the grain, at the same time you'll need to create diffused specular highlights, this involves using large diffused light sources, again at the correct angle.
