Okay, I think I am missing something..
I know a shutter release cable is required for taking light trails.
However, I can't find them for the 450D on any website I look on?
Unless I am mistake, the remote control device for the 450D isn't designed for keep the shutter open for long exposures?
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Did you think of trying the 450D specifications on the Canon UK web site? The remote switch is the RS-60E3.

Thank you.

You can use the self timer, you just have to wait a few more seconds :D

The cheapo Ebay cable release I bought for my 400D works fine with my 450D, if that's any help??

The RC-1 and RC-5 seem to be both remote controls, neither seem wired.
They seem cheap enough in the UK but I can't seem to find any difference between them and I've looked for the specs on the Canon UK website.
Does anyone knowthe difference between the two?

Nevermind, RC-1 is wired and the RC-5 is IR.
