Can I set it up so that when importing images I can have my basic setting processing?

Yes you can add a preset to the import with the develop setting box (see pic) Wayne

So I can make a preset.
With say 10% sharp 1.5 radius and auto contrast.

Make the ajustments you want to any image in develop mode, then go to develop/new preset, give it a name so you know what it is (say daves auto and sharpen or whatever) then tick just the boxes on the settings you want (untick any you don't need) Wayne

You don't need to set this up as a preset if you don't want to. You can actually alter the default settings on import to any settings you like. Within the Develop module, set things up as you would wish them to be for all future imports. Look at the "Reset" button on the bottom right of the display - in the adjustment panel. Now press the "Alt" key and watch "Reset" change to "Set Default". Click the button and confirm you want to override Adobe defaults with your new settings. If you want to go back to the original defaults then that is easily done too.

If you have a number of different cameras you can save different default settings for each camera body.
