Been looking at some photos which have used light painting on the main subject, and would like to give it a go. I am not a fan of the MagLight ones, as they have quite a narrow beam and so you can see it painted on to the subject, so I would prefer something more 'smooth' looking. Any suggestions? Budget: £20

Most of the top people, such as Emil Schmidt, use a 15w pygmy lamp inside a plastic coffee cup

Mains power

Ah right, no good for me. Plan on doing it outside (in particular, I am after some shots of my car and also a monument near to where I live)

Well, there's no reason why you couldn't do something similar, but battery powered. The whole idea is to get a soft, gentle light that seems to be missing from torches.
