Hi

I have recently bought a hasselblad 500c and a sekonic L308b.

I'm having issues with metering as its been a long time since i have done it.

I'm trying to get my head around the best technique for metering some situations...
For example lifestyle/candid shots where you can't go up to the subject and take a reading. Do you just use reflective and roughly point it? What if they're quite far away?

Also i have been taking some incident readings of friends just sitting for a portrait then put the metered info into my 5D MKII and it was always over exposed. The meter on my 5D was giving a different reading...
I know its reflective in the 5D but i thought the incident metering would be better, it was worse.

Many thanks for any input

I think that would be your best bet, in that situation.

Presume you have the same ISO setting on the meter as camera, if you have, it would suggest to me, that something is wrong with the meter. Is it new? Incident reading is IMHO more accurate than Reflective.

Many thanks for any input

How old is the 308B? I've got a 308s which I've had for a while so I'm assuming the B is quite old. Perhaps it has developed a fault:shrug:

I only ever use incident readings, reflective seems a bit pointless seeing as you can't select an area of interest with any accuracy with the 308 meters.

Forgetting the 5D for a minute, how are your negatives coming out? I reckon my 308s under exposes by between .5-1 stop so I just add this to whatever it tells me. Not ideal but seems to get me in the right ball park. None of it maters though when your developer has gone off and under develops everything.:bang:
