whats a good lightmeter, I want it really for film, but also a bit for working with flash. If being a flashmeter is a massive premium I won't get a flash meter as I doubt that will be a key function.

I know sekonics are good is 77 delivered a good price for a secondhand l308S

what is good and cheap?

Hi David

A Minolta IVf is a great meter to have around. It’s reliable and dead easy to use for daylight/continuous light or cabled flash and un-cabled flash.

Have a look in high street photographic shops, as people sometimes sell off their old film cameras plus accessories and occasionally their maybe a used Minolta or Sekonic lurking in the bottom of the bag.

If you do find an old Minolta IVf and it’s inaccurate by about 3 stops, try and get it at a price that reflects its condition (and ideally on sale or return), as the problem is usually just a dirty pin contact that easily cleaned with a piece of card.

Happy hunting

That's not a bad price for a 308 but personally I'd look one step ahead. I bought a new 308 and most of the time it's fine but I'm starting to think that something with a spot meter would be more helpful for reflective readings.

Guess it depends on your budget but I'd definately think about lloking for a meter with spot metering abilities.

Another vote for the Minolta IV F !
Very reliable and pretty cheap now. I think Sony basically took over Minolta and they now sell very similar meters under the Kenko brand.

these do not go together I'm afraid!

I have a Minolta 111F - certainly works in ambient and I think is ok with flash - reasonable offer? I now use a Sekonic L-758DR.
