Light leak!

Not yet. It would make it a bit non functional....I think it's going to be off to Miles to fix this week as I think it's probably the shutter itself or something to do with the fuzzy stuff around the barrel which I assume is some kind of light trap.

The only other thing that occurs to me (you know, when you've eliminated the impossible whatever remains, however improbable...) is that you haven't actually got a light leak. It's not something I've heard of for years, but once upon a time you did hear of fogging and bright spots caused by internal reflection within the camera. Any very shiny, bright places withing the camera (which I'm not familar with, so no surprise there)?
 
It's possible. I hope not as I'd think that would be more tricky to fix.
 
Yay. The Vito has been returned. It's now got a baffle in it. I think it's in the viewfinder as I can see something in there that I don't remember seeing before. Can't wait to go out and try it :banana:
