light booms

Hi all,

I am looking at doing a shot that requires a top down light, which means I am going to need a boom to attach to my light stand.

It only needs to hold a sb900.

Anyone any suggestions for one that won't break the bank?

Lencarta do one that won't break the bank. You can save a bit by getting an attachment (one that goes onto an ordinary lighting stand) but generally they aren't as stable.
If you prefer a wall mounted one then Photomart have several different types

Interestingly, I needed to buy one too and found this last night on ebay which appears to fit the bill - it will support a flashgun plus soft-box, the boom arm will fit onto a light stand and as long as the boom range is suitable, (75-135cm) could be okay for your needs. I would ignore the "Heavy Duty" comment as its probably made of lightweight plastic, and as they say you get what you pay for, but should be okay for a Speedlite.

I incidentally ordered one of these this morning via the website... I presume it will support the weight of a Smartflash 200 head and 70cm Beauty Dish without any problems?
