I've been looking at emigration options over the last year or so, though not all that seriously yet. I've heard that Canadian visa's can take a LONG time to get! Though i've also heard that BC needs 300,000+ workers urgently! Being a web developer, i'm not sure they'd want me in Canada :( so i'd have to change career!

Vancouver is gorgeous. I've been there many times. The cost of living is higher than it is here in Denver, but nowhere near what is in most of the UK.

Do be careful of theft, particularly auto, if you live anywhere in BC. Vancouver in particular has a very serious drug problem, and anything left in a car (particularly anything shiny) is as good as gone.

Yep - got mates in Aldergrove BC and his 'back garden' just goes up and up - very much like the scenery in the Michael Mann film 'Last of the Mohecans' only a bit damper at certain times of the year.

I go there every couple of years to play with all the firearms that I 'exported' to my mate's cellar just prior to the new firearms legislation which would have had me destroying all my grandfather's war trophies as well as all my war trophies. There was no way I was going to cut a long-barrelled artillery Luger (as well as all the rest) in half just because of some Northern Nutter.
