Yes
I've recently bought myself a Lexar Firewire800 card reader and a Firewire800 card for my computer, unfortunately I've only been able once.

Everything's connected as it should be as it has worked once but I have no clue how I managed it and now I'm ready for giving up and going back to my USB card reader.

the card reader isn't even coming up in the 'my computer' window.

has anyone any experience with this and hopefully a solution?:help:

Well after speaking with Lexar Europe I have found a fix!

Phone Lexar Europe and get someone from India on the phone, tell them your having issues with your card reader, they'll raise an RMA, send them your card reader and they will replace it with their USB version leaving you with slower transfer rates and a hole in your pocket as the new card reader is only worth half the price of the new one.

To say I'm raging is an understatement, I specifically bought a new FireWire 800 card for my pc and it is now redundant, the card reader they replaced my super fast one with is slower and worth half as much! I feel robbed! I used to buy Lexar products exclusively, memory cards/thumb drives and now card readers because I thought I was buying the best quality I could afford now I'm looking for another brand who's products actually do what you buy them for

Chris, report it to trading standards, if they are going to replace a faulty product it must be with the exact same product (unless you agree to something different) and the new product must be of the same or higher value, they are actually breaking the law (unless you agreed to this)

I didn't agree to it but trying to argue your point with someone who doesn't speak English is impossible. They said because I didn't buy the product direct from them they cannot offer me a refund of the difference. I only wanted it replaced with a working one but obviously they know their product is crap.

I wonder if it sees he drive as being unmounted when the card is ejected. Can you remount id Disk Utility. Bit of a pain if this is what it does. I've a USB version on my Mac and don't have any problems . Only FW800 devices I have are drives so can't comment on the card reader

In essence they are right. They did not have to do anything for you at all. Under the Sales of Goods act your contract is with who you bought the card reader from, not Lexar themselves.
