Lexar CF Card Reader

I’m after a new CF Card Reader because the one I have is old and VERY slow.

I’m looking at getting a Lexar UDMA CF & SD card reader but I don’t know whether to get the USB2 for £23.75 from Amazon or the USB3 from 7DayShop for £26.99.

I don’t have any USB3 slots on my computer but is the USB3 reader likely to be any quicker even when using a USB2 slot?

I’d like to place an order today so I can get delivery no later than Wednesday of next week in time to take it on holiday with me. (That alone is steering me towards Amazon because 7DayShop delivery can be slow).
 
For the sake of £3 I'd buy the USB3 version even if just to make it future proof.
 
I use a sandisk USB2 card reader on my laptop. It transfers at the same rate on the USB2 & 3 ports. I also use a USB3 ext Hard drive and it is noticeably slower on USB2 (which you'd expect).

The hard drive is slower on a USB 2 port than it is on a USB 3 port or slower on a USB 2 port than a USB 2 hard drive would be?
 
Silly question, but is this for a laptop?? If so, do you have an express card slot?

I bought the lexar express card CF Reader and find it nice and fast compared to my old USB CF Reader. Cheaper too from memory, was about £18
 
You would be an idiot not to get the USB3 version.

It's on £3 more, and your current computer may not have USB3 but your next will, so just futureproof your self .

Can you tell me if the USB 3 version will copy at the same speed on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 reader would? If that's the case then I'd definitely get the USB 3 reader.

slower on USB 2 but about the same as a USB2 HDD on a USB 2 port (sorry for not making myself clear)
