right Dod, can you please explain to me how my comment was sarky, it was meant as lighthearted humour, it wasnt having a go at anyone else, in fact if anything it was having a dig at myself. Now i understand that everyones sense of humour is different, or it appears, non-existant in some, but please do not lump me in with other people for something completely different and please do NOT threaten me with banning without good reason.
You're bright enough to work it out for yourself.

Time Out?
You're also bright enough to work it out.

So good to see the whole gang is here, or was here apparently. Sorry boys, snipe all you want, you have known me long enough to know I wont react.

Foggy, for you I apologise if it seemed condescending, wasn't meant to be, in fact, more tongue in cheek, but judging by some of the responses I received from people that spend a more time than most at race tracks, I still feel it a fair assessment. F1 is a business, drivers do get in on their marketing potential, some are super talented, some are just plain good and some seem to have little talent at all. They all work bloody hard to get there, regardless, but it does all come down to the dollar in the final reckoning.

FWIW, and only IMO, Lewis is british and now a british champion in my eyes, and from his comments over the last few days, in his too. The boy did good! ;)

Now, if you don't mind, I will go back to enjoying the rest of this forum.

Ciao!

Tbh, I agree with you on that point. I don't see what her number of posts has to do with anything, her post was incredibly condescending and (imho) incorrect.

Actually I think it was pretty tongue in cheek Chris. That's the problem with forums, it's often hard to tell. She was just putting her opinion in a forthright manner, having met Yvonne I don't for one minute believe that she was being condescending. I refer you to my post re Community with regard to her number of posts (I actually referred to how long she has been a part of the community rather than the number of posts).

Dignified as ever! :D

Not disputing length of time with a community but I have never really liked seeing that being brought in to play to validate an someones opinion in an arguement over a newer members - always seems a sure fire way of new members off to me.

You are certainly correct in that forums are often a difficult place for tongue in cheek comments - the written word lacks the inflection often required to indicate the desired meaning.

I do agree that F1 is certainly a money business, unfortunately much to its on detriment in my opinion.

As said though, he's the champion, he's British, he done good, am happy to leave it at that :)

Length of time in a community was not used as a reason to validate an opinion. My point was that someone who had just joined made it personal against someone who has been around here a while and has certainly earned more respect than she was given.

And that will be my last word on it.................Go Lewis!!

You're also bright enough to work it out.

Now, while im not looking at dragging this thread into the gutter, I am a little concerned by your attitude Dod. THAT is not an explanation, and I would really like one as to how ANYTHING i have said is a sarky did at someone else here??

Otherwise, this just looks like you are picking on me without reason, and that is not exactly fair now is it. If you want to pm me to save this thread from becoming more off topic than it already is then do so.

Snigger, I think you just have. I also think you shouldn't go around telling people DC had to work harder to get into F1 than Lewis did.

FWIW, and only IMO, Lewis is British and now a British champion in my eyes, and from his comments over the last few days, in his too. The boy did good! ;)

Can only agree with that.

Couldnt agree more!

lol yea, British (in my la-la land world) is Mick Jagger, Brian May, and the Queen....now THAT's British :)!

You'd never fit that lot into a McLaren....

And I bet if you did, the one in the middle would fart and ruin it for the others.

Because we consider your posts to be sarcastic. Those who have reported them consider them to be sarcastic.

And for what it's worth, yes we already know of all your 'history' with each other.

What I will say is this. As owner of this forum and also a very active member, I, and the other staff won't tolerate sly digs and general upset. We're fiercely protective of the community we have built.

You are welcome to enjoy the forum as a member, but we insist that everyone is polite to each other. Many of your posts up to now have been sarcastic, and largely aimed at one member inparticular. It's building up to a quite clear picture of what is happening, and that's why we are stamping down now.

It's your choice of where we go from here. One member has already been suspended within 3 posts.

then as owner of this place marcel, i would ask that you look through ALL my posts and let me know how i have "been sarcastic, and largely aimed at one member inparticular"

I think if you actually took the time to look rather than clearly and rather sadly listening to tittle tattle then you would see that I have barely crossed this persons path and certainly not in a manner that would be deemed as taking sly digs or trying to cause upset.

I did wonder why you were so overly sensitive to anything i said, now its pretty clear. Im not too happy at being treated in such a prejudiced manner and it reflects badly on you that you that you take such a stance.

I enjoy this place, i dont comment much, but as you can see, i have commented in several threads. If you can show me where i have apparently victimised someone then i will of course apologise, if not then i will continue as before, that is to say, enjoying this place, WITH my sense of humour.

Just to reiterate, please show me what ive done thats so offensive, or just leave me alone.

Noseybonk I'd like to apologise. It seems I've gotten my wires crossed today.
What with the influx of your 'group' that know each other, I was replying to you when I was actually referring to the other two quoted in dod's post, or mainly, should have been referencing you all as a group.

So I'd like to offer my apologies to you personally and admit I got it wrong :) Sorry :$

Due to the fact of all the history between everyone, and as said, the influx into this thread of those who have a part in this 'history', your post about motorsport being a business, not a sport, did clearly look like a 'dig' at Yv. That is the only post of yours so far I am not happy about.

I should actually have been addressing everyone who has posted iffy replies.

We have a forum policy that everyone joins TP with a clean slate, so we'd like everyone to continue to enjoy the forums.
But, we will (as we always do) be keeping an eye out for any bad blood being carried over from other forums, and if necessary deal with it then.

So I got it wrong and apologise, but I'd also like to remind everyone collectively...any history that you have with other members, should be left at the door, and we can all continue to enjoy the forums. :)

No apology necessary, but accepted anyway.

As for history, I'm here mainly because my son posts here, and I am nurturing his interest in photography, as well as looking for inspiration for myself, though I take your point.

Having said that, and this is in no way meant as a dig, starting with a clean slate doesn't seem quite correct if previous history has been reported to you for whatever reason I'm not sure, by one person only. Hard to be unbiased if you are already alerted if you see what I am badly saying.

Anyhoo, to finish on topic......BOOOOOO to Lewis, your pants!

I do see what you're saying. What I mean was, everyone comes here with a second chance. If there are then any problems, that's when we take previous history into account.
So if you were banned on other forums, then you wont find yourself banned on here :)

Hardly pants if he won :p

black pudding?

Black Pudding - fry it up with some Scallops, about 10 min should do it, if the pieces are nice and small. Medium heat. Salt, pepper too. If you have time, caremelise some onions before hand (2 red onions, teaspoon of brown sugar, and sweat the onions in a half glass of red wine until its almost fully evaporated. You could use malt vinigar instead).

Prepare a bed of wet and crispy Rocket Lettuce.

After your Black Pudding & Scallops are cooked, mix with the red onion, and place into the bed of lettuce.

Drizzle with Sweet Chilli Sauce, and enjoy.

Fantastic.

I'd rather eat mushy peas

Sorry but you're all wrong he;s not British he's English. Had he blown it for a second time he would have been British, that way we English could have spread some of the disappointment and shame onto the Scottish and the Welsh.

Because he suceeded he's 100% English regardless of where half of his grandparents came from and you Jocks and Taffs will have to find one of you're own countrymen's glory to bask in. At this point is should forewarn you that should any Scotsman or Welshman be sucessful at something then they will become British so that we English can bask in the Glory.

Glad that's cleared up, I'm off to watch re-runs of the Queen's speech (queen of England remember ;))

You can keep your fingers of Murray then :bat:

Thats just poncy.

Black pudding, slice it, fry it. Serve it with a side of bacon, eggs, beans, fried bread, tomatoes, mushroom, sausages and ketchup.

Win.

What's all this talk of black pudding on a thread about Lewis Hamilton?
His new girlfriend been spilling the beans?
:naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

I'd like to apologise as well. I meant to quote the same post as Marcel referred to but by not doing so caused misunderstanding. My fault totally.

I like LH, I really do....

But, I read today in the Metro that he is now a registered resident in Switzerland. As such a resident, he pays no tax in the UK. Apparently, it's becuase F1 is so international and he is always in other countries. Really? Cos, even if there was a race in Swizerland, he would still only have 1 home race. He could do that in the UK too.

I have lost pretty much ALL respect for him at this point in time. I would feel much happier if he would take the £5,000,000 odd (an estimate by me £75m/5yrs +£20m/yr) that he is saving in tax and threw it back into getting youngsters into the sport (or other sport, or anything for that matter)

I'm sorry, that's pure greed, and one of the reasons why I HATE football and other high paying sports and all they stand for.

I'm sure there are other drivers who do the same, I know there are footballers and football clubs registered on Guernsey (don't get me started on Guernsey) for tax reasons, but as he is always saying how he is down to earth etc etc...

Rant over.

Tell you something, if I could get away to a Tax Haven, I would be on the next boat out of here. I loose about 60% of my earnings to this government, through a variety of company and personal tax. I don't blame ANYONE for running.

Oh my god, so much emotion over something, frankly, so boring :D

Even after weeks on end of post-op boredom I couldn't bring myself to watch the race.

It is simply a money making circus for a few people which, as with anything where so much money is a stake, is tainted by the perception of corruption.

It is no longer a sport. I'm with Yv on that.

Well said ! Personal wealth over patriotism !

i am sure if we were going to loose that much in tax we would all go and live abroad

to be fair to him though they do testing abroad, more races are in europe and easier for him to get to there so i dont see a problem, Hekki lives over there to and i wouldnt be suprised if all other drivers were the same

well, I'm "Texan" but with both parents from foreign countries, that doesnt exactly make me a yank...lol
You are Texan first, American second. You should not forget that. Have a little pride in your state!!!!

lol yea, British (in my la-la land world) is Mick Jagger, now THAT's British :)!
Mick Jagger's mother was Australian, so by your rules he's not British I'm afraid.

his biography says he is Grenadian! I dont call myself Iranian just because my parents are, but then dont say im a yank, lol.... people nowadays lose touch with their ethnicity simply because of what their birth certificate says.
So if you're not American (where you were born I presume?) and not Iranian, where do you say you are from?

^^ so again, DOES have non-british roots!! not like its a bad thing, just I find it sad when people want to just classify themselves as what their passport says! that's what i love about the Indian crowds, is that they dont forget (and don't let you forget!) that they are of foreign background :)!
Yes, but if they are born in the UK, they are English, Scottish Welsh or Irish, end of story.

I think most people classify you in terms of full ethnic background, as being a national, when your past 10 generations have lived in the same place... that's just what one of my college professors told us anyway!
LOL thats one of the funniest things I've read on here in a long time. I think you'd struggle to find someone who has 100% static roots over 10 generations in any country!!

You and I, and I probably would agree. The difference that the 60% taxes I pay makes a HELL of a difference to me. Lewis would struggle to live here in the UK on the £35,000,000 that would be left every year!!!

I think I would be the other way around, when you have THAT much money, would you really notice it?
Having said that, all the bigger teams have their own transport (IE aircraft) so this really is not an issue.

What does that make every American then ??
