Who is he? (Genuine question).
 
He just needs to win his 8th championship and it will make my day.
I never thought I would see another driver beat Shumachers record in my life time, even more so a Brit.
I know a lot of F1 fans are bored with Mercedes and Hamiltions dominance but many of us can remeber when the FIA was better known as Ferrari International Assistance during the years Shumacher drove for Ferrari.

Williams through the 90's. There are several F1 World Champs that won a single championship in a car that was leagues ahead of the competition and then didnt ever win another. Roseberg only won against Hamilton because of 1 more retirement by hamilton then quite because he knew he wouldnt win again
Mercedes have built a fantastic car and engine but other teams have failed to progress. Williams had a good season then fell off a cliff. Ferrari has gone backwards this season - would be interesting to see how last years car would work against the 2020 mercedes.

Yes. General consensus seems to be fuel supply irregularity. The engine would produce far more horsepower a high engine rev's than a car with the correct FIA limits.
 
Hamilton is IMHO the best ever. He obviously still has the hunger to win and the skill to make it possible. In any other racing season, if Hamilton wasn't there, then Vestappen and Bottas would be fighting it out.
 
They interfered with the full pump timings & pressures so although it wouldn't flow more than x in normal modes it would when they needed it to. Basically they cheated & were caught - don't know if they used the same engineers that were sacked due to diesel-gate in VAG... lol.
 
It is time that Vettel retired., he has lost his mojo completely.
He is not even interesting any more.
He is blocking a seat from younger and better drivers.

Yes I agree.
A multiple world champion should go out at around the peak of their performance, not as an also ran.
 
Chuffed for Lewis, the fans and UK Motorsport too, as well as the people at the factory and team. Love him or hate him, it's some accomplishment. I wasn't Shumacher's biggest fan but I do recognise what he acheived (not always how he did it) but I never thought I'd see those records broken in my lifetime.

I think Lewis is peaking now, despite getting on a bit (in F1 terms), I think this had been his most dominant season. I would say though, I hope he stops at the top andnot an also ran making up the numbers as so many have done over the years. One more championship and however many wins that brings would do it I think, he has no reason to risk his life for too much longer.
 
The Car is so good that if there was no Hamilton than Bottas would be No. 1
 
If Hamilton was not in the mix, the table would look very different.
It would be very tight at the top. But Bottas would have a lot more points.

Hamilton has a knack of winning even when things are conspiring against him.
It is that winning ability that sets him apart.

Happy Hamilton has won the world title. However people saying he is the greatest of all time obviously never knew what Jim Clark did and achieved in so many different aspects of motor racing and also didn’t have the most dominant car either...

When he won the GP2 title, all drove Dallaras with the same engine and gearbox.

I don’t like him either but just don’t see why people feel the need to denigrate his awesome achievements.

All the comments I've seen saying he's 'the greatest' qualify it with 'of the modern era' which Jim Clark wasn't

That's fair enough. I get that.

To me, he seems quite laid back and pleasant compared to many utterly dominant extreme sports multi-millionaires.

I'd like to meet him.

When he first started in F1, he was ok, but over time became too big for his boots. His brother Nic drives in the BTCC and is a really nice genuine lad, lots of time for his fans and approachable. A workmate works for the team that Nic drove for last year, Lewis was in the garage for a couple of race meetings and didn't mix with any of the other drivers or pitcrew in the team. He did the same when Nic drove in the Renault Clio championship on the same package.

Surely he was there to support his brother, not be "Lewis Hamilton."
 
I'd go the other way. I never used to like him however this year he has pulled himself together & really nailed every stop. Flawless, yes great car, yes great team, but he is at the sharp end & delivering in every sense of the word..

So supporting your brother means ignoring everyone else in the garage then? Their father would happily chat with the rest of the team. In the BTCC paddock, Lewis was Nic's brother, not the other way round.

It was only TV interviews, that Lewis wouldn't do, so that he wouldn't take the limelight off his brother.
