Lets talk about toast

TOAST......just a little bit of TOAST....sure that was a song in the 80s:suspect:

OMG.... you can tell we're all climbing the walls with the weather! !!!
x

I like scooby doo toast.....ROAST. RAGGY I RONT SOME ROAST:)

Toast - if you have to blow the flames out, it is just about done. Add copious butter and Marmite - lovely.

White.

marmite :gag: Makes my bum hole pucker just to say the word.

I prefer it only just toasted. If you can hear the scraping of the butter knife then it's been toasted too long.

The butter must be unsalted, Lurpak or President. And not too much of it.

On the rare occasions I have something on the toast, it'll be either pate (to about the same thickness as the toast!) or a slice of Leerdammer drizzled with oodles of MARMITE! Oh, yes :D

Unsalted :gag: marmite :gag:

:D

Mine tends to back into a corner at the mention of it:) Lurpak and brussells pate mmmmmmm;)

Noooooooooo !!!
They make the toast all soggy. Beans have to be served at the side of toast, not on top.

And as for the rest of you cheese and jam weirdos . . . :cuckoo:

No no no no.

1 tin of baked beans 3 slices of toast, well buttered, when heating the beans up add a big knob of butter into them as this enriches them and a good splash of tobasco sauce. The beans are then poured over the toast and a good dose of L&P over the top. Eat the beans leaving the toast to soak up all the bean juice and then eat he toast.

What about those beans with the tiny sausages in

Has anyone mentioned toast with lots of lovely Pork Dripping and plenty of salt? Mmmmmmmmmmm!

I like butter laid on my toast cut thick enough so you leave teeth marks.

toasted on no.6 setting on my toaster.. perfect mid to dark brown... buttered evenly (lurpak salted) to all corners and then cut down the centre into rectangles. My missus prefers diagonal cuts to make triangles the weirdo

No 6 setting on my toaster is 'on fire'. Anything from 3 on is burnt. It's a rubbish toaster.

Proper butter is essential.

In my youth mother's pride white loaf toasted with lots of stork margarine was a rare delicacy compared to the usual sensible wholemeal bread and lurpak.

If you slather a good thick layer of butter on the toast when it is just cool enough to not melt all the butter it prevents the beans making the toast quite as soggy... I don't mind though. I quite like bean sauce soaked toast :D

Oh god.....dripping sprinkled with salt...yes.....Pork or beef - don't care which.

all the people complaining about toast going soft when buttered so you leave it to go a bit cold first. It's because you aren't eating it quick enough.

I don't even use a plate with toast, the instant it pops up from the toaster it is buttered in about 5 seconds and then straight in my mouth. The first slice is gone in about 20 seconds. The next slice in another 2o seconds. 2 slices of toast are buttered and eaten in less than a minute usually.

that's the way to do it

Joe, that's not eating food...that's inhaling food! :)

inhaling food! yes.

Lets discuss bread types. What bread do you find makes the best toast.

I have settled on this 50:50 medium loaf from kingsmill, it makes a really nice crunchy toast.

I always like the thought of uncut bread and a nice thick wedge but I find the butter to bread ratio impossible to get right on a big fat wegde, you have to o at least two coatings of butter and by that time it's started to go soggy.

Kingsmill here too....but Farmhouse rather than 50/50.

I'm hungry.

Toasters need to be taller so i dont have to cut the white strip off the top.

tried that ruth but i have to stuff it in then it wont pop out:)

Clearly you need a tooaster that's up to the rigors of the job!!
Be gone....to Comet with you!
