I love toast - who doesn't?

At what point does warm bread become toast though? Where is the cutoff? What if one side of the bread was toasted but the other side was not. Where does it fall in the bread/toast ratio?

.......

Well ok, one thing my mum always did for us as kids, one one sided toast... butter the untoasted side, with all the soft bread scraped up and mushy with the melting butter.... still enjoy it every so often now. 'normal toast' only really enjoy with something, a breakfast, or with beans on, whatever.

Will that do?

You have asked for it Joe :D At the cost of humiliating myself on TP yet again, then look Here You will get my drift after a few replies

there is far too much talk of bokeh and dof in that thread and not enough about TOAST!

What if one side of the bread was toasted but the other side was not.
Clearly the toaster is knackered then! :D

As for me personally, butter has to go on the toast while it is hot so it melts and drips everywhere.
I also like my toast borderline cremated

But what did you call that? Toast or bread or maybe broast or tread?

No it will not. You need to talk more about toast

Thick white bread. lightly toasted till golden brown. lurpack butter and some philadelphia cheese spread. Hot cup of tea (not mug) yummy:D

surely you want a cup of hot tea -whats the point of having a hot cup with tea in it? :D

I have a strange liking for that toast you get in the Holiday Inn, that's been toasted and kep warm for a bit...it's sort of chewy. Hmmmm.

I also agree with whoever said "loads of Lurpak on borderline burnt toast". In fact, loads of lurpak can seriously RECUE burnt toast and make it edible. All adds to the flavour!

i love toast at hotels with that rolling toaster, it makes great toast as long as you work out which settings to use, takes a few mornings until you nail it I find

Curveball time....... What about crumpets/muffins?

Both bread-based products that you burn to taste

I'd take either of them over toast but not sure what my favourite is......... Muffins are good in as much as you can turn them into a bacon/egg sandwich and crumpets can hold loads more buttery goodness :D

Up here we have oven bottom muffins. Toasted with lashings of lurpak. Or if your a bit short of cash lashings of lard:gag:

To answer your question Joe I suppose it is all down to individual taste. I like to see plenty of Black particles covering mine as in burnt, whereas the wife likes it hardly toasted at all.

Have to agree with Scott in that it must be toasted both sides...golden brown....then slathered with a ton of proper butter (none of this "spreadble" kack).

I don't drink tea or coffee, but a glass of ice cold full fat milk would go nicely.

I seem to remember reading that toast was originally only toasted on one side, but I could have been a bit piddly in a pub and was hearing things :)

Lightly toasted so only mildly brown, lots of marg and a tiny bit of jam! Nom nom :)

Sometimes I quite like toast when it's slightly cold and the marg doesn't melt! I am a bit weird lol! :bonk:

near-burnt for me, none of this lightly tanned junk!

and it has to be butter on it. Marg is the Spawn of Satan. Artificial rubbish :p

Sadly I have to have dairy free marg otherwise I'd definitely be on the butter side!

Marg is the Spawn of Satan

No thats pickled eggs:gag:

When I was a kid I used to butter toast then spread tomato ketchup on top!

if its started to brown it's toast. If no brown, it's just warm bread. if it's dark brown it's burnt... and if it's black it's been nuked, perhaps you should use it to help get the fire lit.

I like mine a very light golden colour, smothered in butter (usually Lurpak) as soon as it's come out the toaster, so it melts into the bread. Buttering cold toast is imo the worst thing you can do :gag:

and if one side is toasted and the other not! is it toast or is it bread?

if one side is toasted and the other is not - it's half done!

Has to be lurpak. real butter. cant beat it. Well you can if your baking cakes:D

Thick white bread very lightly toasted with lurpak straight on so that it melts, or a good quality peanut butter.

I can't eat toast as bread makes me feel bloated and it plays havoc with my psoriosis. However before I got psoriosis, I used to enjoy dry toast boardering on dark brown, just before it turns black with a glass of cold milk.
Butter margerine or any sort of spread just spoil the taste and butter makes me gag anyway, just like cheese.:gag:
My son would like a Cylon toaster.
