Is this the new weekend pastime:shrug:, I live in the countryside and at this time of year it is lovely to see the flowers growing by the roadside approaching villages and outside remote homes like my own.
About a half a mile from our house I witnessed someone picking daffodils and thought what a nerve they had!!. I arrived home and as I had planted quite a few myself by the roadside thought I would take a walk down to see if my flowers had been raided, sure enough all the flower buds that were about to open had gone. If I had been just a few minutes earlier I would have caught them in the act.

This is the third time I have seen this happen in different location in the last few weeks.

probably now selling them in a shop or at a market for a 1.50 a bunch. A bit like photos on the net ...nothings safe these days.

When I was on gardening duty as a kid, weeding the bed on the road side of the garden wall, a bunch of people helped themselves just a few yards away from me.

they used to do that where i lived..... the neighbours used to go out and threaten to lynch the daff pickers

How is that different to Blackberry picking?

Putting it simply the daffodils look nicer in their natural environment than on your windowsill. You also have to be careful when picking wild flowers as it is illegal to pick a lot of species under the wildlife and countryside act. Have a look at http://www.jncc.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=5281 for more details.
