Hi All

I'm starting to get a little peeved,

I've been let down by three models in a row now.

I've just finished making a home studio, and need my first model to come and help with the setup and first lighting etc.

2 x models were TFCD
1 x Model was paid

Does this happen to others, and how do i make sure i'm getting a good decent rep of model?

I'm using Net-model and Purestorm at the minute

many thanks

Neil

Can you not leave reviews for these models?

If so leave them a negative review saying they did not turn up, this has two uses:

1. It lets other togs know the model is unreliable.

2. It will encourage models to actually turn up if they think they will get a negative review if they don't - negative reviews as a time waster = no work

yep i can do, but i have no reviews yet so i worried it could reflect badly on me too?

Were the shoots recent, could the snow and road conditions have any bearing on them letting you down?

I wondered, but they have been "going to" come over for nearly 3 weeks, and recently not responded to mails which I can see they have read.

Oh well i'm always the optomist so i'll keep trying

Then the cycle will continue, I am in touch with a couple of girls from PS but in reality I tend to approach people who do not want to be models !

I've thought about this, but wondered if i'd be taken seriosly

My plan was to go to the local hairdressers and offer a Free shoot for the tylists and Hairdressers, to try and raise my profile, and maybe this would attract some customers as Buisness?

Any opinions?

i would forget about them and move on. happened to me and i was just getting let down all the time so found some new models, il post pictures up in here soon!

This may have something to do with you operating a home studio. If the prospective model has to travel on her own, and then go in to a complete stranger’s home, she may not feel that secure. This is no excuse for not calling or texting you to say she can’t make the shoot, but something you may want to consider in the future.

Do you not have any friends or friends on a friend that wouldn’t mind modelling for you, least that way, the model will have some connection with you, and would feel more secure.

We also get a few modals who never turn up for shoots, so we simply never book/hire them again.

interestingly i'd thought about that, I actually suggested they brought someone with them!

As for friends a few, I also have a wife, but i don't really want to photograph her incase i mess it up for her

leave a truthful reply about your experience on purestrom, They should at least inform you if they can't make it.

then why agree to it in the first place.

I have 1 cancelled and 1 on time, and great... from NetModel... also tried to by a Nikon D2X, got to drive from Surrey to Cambridge and the guy was a no show - so not a good average

Models? Flake? NEVER!

A lot of people recommend for TF* stuff, having a meeting (say at starbucks) before hand to meet each other in a non photo environment, to 'discuss the ideas' for the shoot. If they turn up to this, they'll probably turn up to the shoot, if they don't...move on :P

edit: group shoots are good too, in the experience of the group I shot with a few times, 1/3rd drop out, pretty much precisely, every shoot. Internally blacklist them if no good reason provided, but book the extras to accommodate for this.
