No
I was shooting at a rate of 6 frames /sec. in 3 or 4 frame bursts after about the 5th burst I got a "card error" "format card".
I tried but to no avail, a quick card swap ( same make same capacity) and continued with ease
When I got home I did recover most of my images ( if not all) with the rescue disc supplied. the last frame was rather like the film error ( stuck) with only half the image exposed and the previous half a dozen were well over exposed
However neither "windows" or the rescue disc was able to format teh CF card.
Even if I had been able to format I still would have binned the card, anyway one failier was enough. The card
( i am not sure which one it is) is either about 9 months old or about 3 months old.
Both cards bought from different places and the receipts are elusive at the moment. :bang:

I'm sure I read somewhere you shouldn't get Windows to format the card but should only be done in the camera.

The camera wouldn't do it it was a last resort ;)

Thats unlucky :( First post I think I have seen on here about a Sandisk card going tits up :(

Thats me all over Mr Lemon :D
Its gonna be interesting to see if there are any other failures

Very unlucky methinks,

I read somewhere recently that Compact Flash cards were still the most reliable card ever made,

and,

Sandisk had been in the top 3 for reliability in more than 100 different tests.

Dont they have a 10 year guarentee on them :shrug:? Thats the first I've heard about a sandisk card failure also.

I thought sandisk had a lifetime garauntee so potentially it would, ent matter about the receipt,if they where genuine cards that is ,unless you bought any of them of fleabay

Ah, not good. I had a Jessops one do that as well. Don't want to be a total downer on the thread but it never worked properly again.

TBH I wouldnt trust it again anyway once it's failed. If there's warranty or its quite new, get it returned and replaced.

Sandisk have a 10 year warranty in Europe, but if you register your cards with the usa its a lifetime warranty, I don't think you need your receipt, give sandisk support and email.

Link to warranty http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DocumentInfo.aspx?DocumentID=3019

Thanks for The link

I am gonna bin it if I can't get a replacement FOC. I wouldn't trust it either and at todays prices its not too outrageous

You sure it's genuine? there's lots of fake stuff floating around.

Yep I am pretty sure its genuine
I have now found said receipts and it was bought from either "Play.com" or "valueshop.co.uk"
( as said earlier I bought them a few months apart )

Some of the fakes did (iirc) end up in places like play.com etc, i suggest you google 'how to tell a genuine sandisk extreme 3 card' and check yours to the one on the site.

Thanks for that, Wes  I have now "tried" them all apart from "reading the card" as thats not possible but it stands up under scrutiny for the rest. I have now emailed sandisk and will await their reply, stay tuned for an update
( if they do get back to me of course :D)

I had a sandisk card fail a few years ago, mailed their support who were great, sent the card back and they sent me a new one.

that was a plain blue 256mb card before the sizes went supersize.

Well I have now emailed Sandisk 3 times each 24 hrs apart and so far no response
I wasn't even rude

Ok So I called tech Support a very helpful guy ( yes really, no sarcasm intended)
insisted on walking me through a card format proceedure. When that didn't work ( I did try to tell him I had done all this)
He said that he would email me a programme that they use themselves for formatting cards.
I got a "sign in" password to their site, but no programme was evident I mailed them back via the website
this time and the short answer I received was that the card was knackered,
( I guess thats a technical term )
And they ask for my address and place / date of purchase plus the serial number off the card,
( have you tried to read that ? all I can say is, I could bearly see anything was written let alone decipher it!)
As there is a 5 year warrenty on this product ( according to sandisk,) not 10, its well withing the warrenty period anyway.
I have had no further contact ( my last email wasn't responded too after I supplied my details) I am assuming that a replacement is in the post
You will be the second to know, 'cause if one doesn't turn up after all this they sure as hell will be the first :D

This is like pulling teeth! I have had several emails now from Sandisk
one with an attachement to download a format programme but as "they cant send exe. via email I have to change the doc. to exe". now if this is possible ( I have tried) its beyond me. I did ask what was in their Friday afternoon tea and that as they had agreed the card was faulty I wanted a replacement not more hassle!
So now they have sent me address of 3 UK "suppliers" and I have to contact them direct

Cobra all you have to do is change the .doc ending to .exe (right click the file and choose rename).

Cheers Steep, but I did that and ended up with some sort of code that wouldn't download or run

hhmm, did you save the file as .doc and then change the extension to .exe?

Are they sure the guarantee is only 5 years. I have the Ultra 11 card and that has a 10 year guarantee. I can take a photo of the guarantee for you if they give you any hassle.

it says 5 on their web site info and the Tech support guy said the same, its only a few months old anyway so no problem. but thanks for the offer

thats the only way it will let me do it, Steep. Should it be done the "other way" then?

if it's now an exe - just dbl-click it!

It still thinks its a word document double click and it opens in word
I am not convinced this will work anyway, as Sandisk have already told me that is knackered.

Sounds like you don't have file extensions visible :)

Tools > Folder Options > View > Hide Extensions for known file types (Untick)

THEN change the .doc to .exe

I don't seem to have that option Marcel
When I open the file this is what I am presented with none of them makes the slightest difference

Thats an EXE file then, so it looks like its the file extensions.

What options *do* you have...how far along that line can you get?
(Not you have to be browsing the folder where the file is stored, not trying to open it from an email client or something)

There are no "folder option"s under tools, on my pc marcel  ( windows XP pro)

Open windows explorer and it should be along the top.

Or control panel >folder options.
