Public humilialtion time :bonk:

Daughter needed dropping off today in town so decided we'd make trip of it and take the dog with us for a little runaround before lunch. He's a 5 month old springer and still a bit.....lively :naughty:

Anyway - I get him on his lead, leave the house, press the button on the car key fob for the remote boot release (it's a Mondeo estate) and wrestle with the dog to get him in and subsequently take the lead off him and leave it in there with him.........along with my keys :shake:.......and slam the door shut :amstupid:

There's that period of time known as an "onosecond" where you realise what you've done :nono: - spare keys kept at head office (150 miles away) - RAC chap comes out and spends about 20 minutes and eventually we get in with no damage done (other than to my rep) :bang:

So - lesson learnt - and a very common occurance with those of us with remote boot release functions on the key - always open up the rest of the car at the same time :thumbs:

All worked out in the end, but I thought RAC didn't come out to locked keys in car anymore?

I called the car leasing company helpdesk - and explained about the trapped dog - might have been a combination of both of those but the RAC appeared within about 15 minutes :thumbs:
 
Dropped a mug down the toilet this morning. Smashed the mug but phewwwww, the toilets okay.

Such is life, I like to console myself with cream cakes, curry, cheesecake and fizzy sweets :p
 
Ops - can i suggest you buy a swift, it is impossible for me to lock my keys in the car as you cant lock the doors with the keys inside the car.

same with our renos...mind you, Last night I nipped out in an original shape megane, a red one... memories of Dungeness, I had to ask him if it was same car before leaving something in the boot :lol:

So I guess your were checking "the theory" :shrug:
IE try locking the dog and your wife in the boot of a car
for 15 minutes
when you open the boot see which one is pleased to see you ;)

ive very nearly done the same with my focus,


i always find that the 'onosecond' occurs at just the time when you slam the boot shut but usually whilst its still open but you have no chance of stopping the boot shutting

Apart from that, your dog would come out deaf! :naughty:
 
i learnt that lesson a couple of years ago .i took my dog ( donut, his name even if it should be mine !) out in my truck ,another truck from my factory was going the same way . i was going to cardiff ,as we passed heathrow on the m25 the outside temperature was over 30 c , but no worries aircon blasting away nice and cool inside .on the m4 i needed a p stop , so into membury services both lorries parked , i got out to do my thing ,but as it was so hot left donut inside with the engine running ,when i went to get back in ,, the door was locked , i thought my mate had locked it for a laugh and had the keys ,till he pointed out it was still running with the keys inside ,oh [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] ,donut had stood on the button that locks all the doors whilst looking out the window at us .thought of smashing the side window crossed my mind ,but try explaining that one to the guv'nor, in the end we managed to encourage said dog to stand on the door panel again in the hope of standing on the unlock button ,but all he did was lower the window by about eight inches ,im sure the other lorry drivers were ****ing themselves laughing as my mate stood on my shoulders with a long stick in his hand trying and eventually opening the door ,,,when he comes out these days ,keys follow me everywhere .

Afew years ago, someone at work locked his van with the key still in the ignition. The spare key was on the same keyring hanging down.

He called out a locksmith who managed to file a new working key just by looking at the spare through the window.

You should teach the dog to open doors for occasions just like this.
 
Should have phoned head office I tried the old remote opening down the phone trick which wroks quite often apparently.
