I've switched from Gitzo and RRS to Leofoto tripods last few years. I don't think they are quite as good, but more than adequate and far better value.

I agree, I feel like they offer 90% of the quality for 50% of the price (or 30% of the price in this case ;) )

Thanks for this. ordered one when l first saw this and very happy with it.. so pleased except my belated thanks

I haven't used this exact one but i would be very worried spending that sort of money and putting expensive gear on it. These legs locks, the usual powdery chinese metal.... I had very bad experience with similar...

I think it really comes down to specific models. It's no longer as simple as saying it's made in China so it's automatically poor quality. The Chinese will manufacturer according to the submitted specifications supplied to them. Obviously price does factor but reading reviews and getting opinions from existing users can help sort out the wheat from the chaff

Leofoto is a highly respected brand used by lots of professional photographers. The old 'everything made in China is rubbish' just doesn't make any sense these days.

Such misplaced bias is much the same as the anti-Japanese attitudes of the nineteen fifties and 'sixties.

I say "grab the bargains while you still can"!

100% Leofoto outside of the far east is already getting much more expensive than it was as people discover the quality of the equipment. (not including this deal as it was an out and out bargain). I bought my tripod and head while in Hong Kong, and will probably be getting a monopod on my next visit unless I see a real bargain over here.
