Took some advice from someone on this forum and bought a sigma 150-500 and who ever it was i wish to thank them, because quite simply it is an outstanding piece of equipment. Bought a new one off amazon for £700 but it was worth it, just a bit of advice from me to anyone thinking of buying a telephoto lens, dont just consider your canon and nikon because the sigma lens i bought has produced some of my best photographs

... dont just consider your canon and nikon...

What sensible advice :D I'd always advise people to ignore badges and buy the best product for them at the price they're willing to pay.

Glad you're happy with your lens.

Two of my lenses are Sigma, one is Samyang and one is Nikon.

I buy the best lens for the job within reason, not for the name on the label.

I love the colour and contrast Sigma lenses give, especially the 70-200's and the 85 1.4!

I got the 150-500 in january to go with my Canon 100-400 L when I had a 5D2 and 7D for a long rach on both. I sold both bodies and got a 5D3 so didn't need both lenses, so after a lot of testing I ended up keeping the Sigma and selling the Canon (which I thought I'd never see happen). After a while I got a 60D as backup to the 5D3 so I ended up getting a Sigma 120-400 to go with it as I was so impressed with the 150-500. As it happens the 120-400 OS is every bit as good as its bigger brother and I can highly reccommend that too.

Agred, the 120-400 is incredible. I really regret selling mine, it was unbelievably sharp even at 400mm.

Congratulations JJ,
I'm looking at ordering the same but was a bit concerned if Amazon were selling UK or EU stock so that I could get the Sigma 3yr warranty, the Amazon response didn't help:

"Hello,

I glad to hear that you wish to purchase "Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM for Canon Digital and Film SLR Cameras" from us and certainly understand your concern.

All electronic items purchased from Amazon.co.uk come with a one year warranty from the manufacturer, unless otherwise stated.

We currently don't offer an extended warranty on the electronics items sold on our website. If the details on the Product Description page state that the item has a warranty greater than 12 months, then this warranty is with the manufacturer and not Amazon.co.uk. If you believe you are eligible under this warranty you'll need to contact the manufacturer directly.

I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon."

So not much help here, can you shed any light on this if you've registered with Sigma yet?

BB
