Yes
I have 3 on my short list (budget limited)

1. Tamron 70mm-300mm
2. Canon 75-300mm USM
3. Canon 55-250mm IS

All the above would be 2nd hand and limited budget allows £100.00

Also looking at a 50mm 1:8 at about £60.00

So what one would you go for out of the above and also why??

Lens would be mainly used for motorsport and wildlife.

Thanks

Out of the three I would suggest the Canon 55-250mm IS.
The IQ will be better than the other two plus the benefit of IS.

+2 :) ive used it .. its a cheap yet good lens for the money

not L class but its about 1/10 of the price!

p3ryg is a mate and he knows i'm saving up for a nice new lens myself

Haha ok :P sorry.

From what I've heard about the Canon 55-250mm IS its a great lens for the money.
Regardless of build quality.
I'm looking for 1 myself and I'm torn between that or a 2ndhand L lens :)

I was advised against the 75-300 canon for being poor build & IQ, instead I picked up the canon 70-300 IS which in complete contrast has had great ratings for the money.

We have discussed this at length and I have suggested the 55-250IS lens as I've heard it has had good reviews.

Of these 3, I'd go for the 55-250IS lens. It's a cracker of a lens, esp for the price and is well regarded by many who have used one.

You should pick up a good 2nd hand one for around £120 mark

Absolutely agree, but outside op's budget at the moment - perhaps one to be saving for

p3ryg looks like the choice has been made for you, get your hand in your pocket, you know you won't regret it. :D

Cheers everyone - Doug you wait till the lottery win (big one that is) then I will give you the money :-)

Looks like it's the 55-250 then mmmm can I convince the other half it deserves the extra funding :)

50mm has now been sorted so the zoom will be next to get. Now where's the wanted section lol

A real man would get a 200L f4 IS or the non IS f2.8 version, a man who saves hard would get the f2.8 IS MKI version, a rich mand would get the MKII version, and a skint man would get the f4 non IS version.
A man who has had one of the above (except the 2.8 IS MKII) will probably end up with a 100-400L.
Either way, any man who wants to spend silly money on this hobby is better of single before the wife decides a divorce is the way forward

Hahaha. You're right, get pretty caught up in all the excitement and info/opinions being thrown around about which one to get. Then reality strikes...and its alot of money to be spending on a hobby that makes no money back :\

You can make money selling photos and via microstock websites but there is nothing like a nice big canvas on the wall and everyone saying 'wow' to your photos :)

Unless you're 'the best' do people really make much money for their photos on these stock sites :\ ?
