Hi

A few months back a got my first d-slr with a few lenses. I am thinking of upgrading the 18-55 kit lens.
I have seen the sigma 18-50 (preferably the f2.8, but i doubt my funds would stretch, so probably the f3.5) as its virtually the same focal wise, but obviously itll be a fair bit quicker and sharper.

Any recommendations, advice, comments etc.

Cheers!

at the moment i have no ideas on funds, but obviosuly not silly money. Yeagh i'd probably sell the 18-55, not much point in keeping it (if i was to get the 18-50 siggy)

thanks for that, to be honest i'd rather go for second hand as im quite tight with being on the redundancy wagon at the moment. Not sure if i am ready to buy one 'just yet'.

One quick question, lenses that are say 2.8-4....is it a 2.8 or is it 4? Or does it vary between the two dependent upon the shooting conditons?

It varies between the too depending on the length of telephoto you are using, the max app at wide angle is higher than the max app at zoom. Basically you can get the lower stops only at wide angles :)
