I have a nikon d3200

I currently use an 18 to 55 and a 55 to 200 kit lens
Neither has vr

I'm looking to buy a new lens
1. to get vr
2.for more zoom
3.to move on from a kit lens

I was looking at
Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR
But I was told that although it was an ok lens a
Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED
Was better because it was a full fx lens and would be sharper, and the autofocus was faster.

Which one would you recommend and why please

Thank you

70-300 VR all day long

I have been happy with my 70-300 vr lens as well, obviously not a top notch lens that cost into 4 figures, but for the price does its job

I haven't tried VR on other lenses, but the VR on my 18-105 is crap. Maybe it's just because it's a lower end kit lens but it basically has no effect on the lens at all. The VC from Tamron on the other hand is superb.

Thank you very much for your advice
I will try to stretch to the 70 to 300.

Maybe look towards the Tamron 70 - 300 mm it has vc, incredibly sharp lens and its cheaper than the nikon alternative and i would say better :) i use the tamron on a 3200, and it is an awesome set up.

See if you can try out the 70-300 and see how it feels on the camera , it is a nice lens but a lot heavier than the 55-200.

I have the sp 70 300 tamron on sony mount, its good, and well reviewed

I've got a new lens. But I won't tell what it is yet
I'll practice a bit with it. Then take a picture and post it hear and see if anyone can guess what lens was used :-)

Another vote here for the Nikkor 70-300mm VR.
Its far superior glass/optics compared to the DX lenses. :)
