Hi everyone,

I currently use a Canon 500D (good or bad?) which is my first camera that I bought around Christmas last year!

It came with a lens when I bought it (all part of the kit) which is the ef-s 18-55 is kit.

All I really use my camera for is car photography as that's what I'm mainly into. I've never had any lessons or anything on photography, so just taught myself as I've gone really. I have so much to learn though!

The lens I currently use seems verrrry close up so I seem to have to stand real far back to capture the whole car.. And its pretty impossible to capture interior pics with it. It's good, but I think there would be a few different lenses that would be better suited for my uses maybe..

I attend quite a few car shows as well so it's never fun standing super far back and having about a million people walking past as they don't think your photographing anything! Haha!

So my questions regarding the lens is just simply, what can you recommend that would better suit my needs? Preferably something not crazily priced, I would probably purchase second hand on eBay so any links would be greatly appreciated. I also like shooting videos (car vids) so something suited to that too would be a bonus..

Secondly, tripods! I have been using my boyfriends next door neighbours tripod which, is okay, but it's pretty basic!

As above I also like doing videos so something which is suited to that would be good, I.e smooth gliding etc as trying with the tripod I use at the mo is almost impossible - always really jolty! So a tripod suited to video shooting but one that is also good for still pictures would be great!

I would prefer an extendable tripod so it can be quite tall but also change height..

Again something not crazily priced would be good, and I would be looking to purchase second hand so any links to eBay or something would be appreciated!

One more thing, I would love to get a rig set up so I can try some rolling shots as I think they are incredible! Where can I go about buying one of these and how much do they tend to go for?

Say if I had a budget of £200 could I get all three above items? If not what kind of price am I looking at?

Sorry for the essay!

Hope you can help, thanks in advance.

Lauren

First off, you won't get all that for £200.

To get a really wide angle lens, you'll be a lot more than £200. Something like a 10-22mm.

Redsnapper tripod is probably your best bet for cheap, but good quality. Get a ball head for better video work.

Can't help with the rig i'm afraid.

Nice one for the reply. No worries on the costing, I understand equipment costs a lot.

Would you suggest a wide angle lens for automotive photography then?

I found some pictures from a professional photographer, and I really like their style of work, here's three of my favourites. What lens would you suggest to get these kind of results? I understand theres a lot more to it than just the lens but lens for a start would be good.

I would like to create my own style of photographing - of course, but like to get inspiration from others.

Here's the pics:

Thanks in advance, Lauren

Most lenses in the 10-20mm range would do you.

Tamron 10-24mm
Sigma 12-24mm
Tokina 11-16mm
