Morning all,

My brother in law is currently doing a GCSE in photography and is currently doing a lot of film work using his Canon films SLR. He's already got a 350D, but only 1 lens that will work on his film camera (a nifty) as he's got EF-S lenses on his 350D.

My sister wants to buy him something photography related for Christmas, for around the £100 mark, and I reckon another lens would be a good idea, as he's going to be a bit limited at 50mm before too long I reckon. I was thinking of a 28mm EF 2.8 as he'll be able to use it on both cameras, but does anybody have any other suggestions and/or reviews of the lens? :D

I'd say a 28-105 f3.5-4.5 it's a very well reviewed lens for the money and is an ideal walk about range for a full frame/film camera. It would really allow him the versatility to get the most out of his film camera and can be had just over budget brand new (I think). Stear well clear of the 4.5-5.6 version as it is nothing like as good. It's an EF lens so could also be used on his digital body allthough it is a bit of an awkward focal length on a crop seonsor.
