I just recently dropped my nikkor 12-24 wide-angle lens luckily it had a polariser on it which saved the front element but under closer inspection the images now taken with it are slighty softer actually noticably softer than before when compared . Is there anything can be done about this can it be repaired .

If it's out of warranty, contact Fixation, else might be worth going through NikonUK.

You've probably jarred one or more of the optical elements out of alignment. That would cause softness. It should be quite easy to fix. Whether or not it is still in warranty is irrelevant, I think, because the warranty wouldn't cover you for damage repairs.

I'd tend to agree, though (for advice) I wonder whether there's any long term advantage in having a (minor) repair for a warrantied lens organised through Nikon (or whichever supplier).

If you've not seen any, I guess not :)

You could try these www.hlehmann.co.uk/

Hope it's not to serious or expensive, "there but for fortune" etc.

I spoke to these this week 60 to have lens calibration and 160 for a full service

So a guide line on costs

Thanks guys but after talking to nikon I decided to send it to them and let them have a look and see if anything can be done , they`ll give me a quote ithin seven days to see if I want to go ahead with any repairs .I`ll try one of these other guys if their too expensive .
