Lens recommendations please

After doing some reading on here I think that I could do with a 70-300 lens for my D90.

Am I right is this good for close ups and motor sport shots?

If so can anyone pick one out from this ebay link for me please?
I've only got £100 max at the min to spend on one as buying the camera has skinted me lol:

I've just got myself a 70-300, but after reading some of the reviews and advice, I decided to wait a little while to save for the Nikon VR lens.

hi i have a Sigma 70-300mm APO and have been very pleased with it
they can be had for less than £100 on Ebay and you get a macro facility not 1-1 but better than nothing.
