Hello Guys,

I've currently got a 500D and I'm looking for a lens to use for when my wife does showjumping/dressage, I would say its mainly 80% outside and 20% inside.

I'd also like to use the lens for motorsport (mainly motorcycles) this is only occassionally though.

I've looked at the 70-200mmL F.4 but with no IS I'm slightly worried.

Are there any alternatives which would suit me?

Thanks all! :)

You won't need IS when shooting a moving subject as your shutter speed will be high.

By all accounts this is a cracking lens, the Sigma 70-200m 2.8 is good too, if you need 2.8.

I'd say the main thing is range, if 200mm is ok then get the 70-200, the 100-400 is meant to be cracking too but is alot more expensive. There doesnt seem to be many lenses at the 70-300 range which are on par with the Canon 70-200 level/price.

What exactly is your budget?

My instant thought was one of the 70-200s, although for motorcycles that may be a bit short? As above, IS won't matter for moving subjects.
