Lens question

I'm going to sound terribly noobish here,

I now have a Miranda 70-210 MC Macro lens, am I right in thinking that I can use this to zoom in on moderate to distant subjects as well as magnify close ones, only that distant objects are more likely to be at the point of infinity or beyond.

I've never heard of it, but that doesnt mean much.
Unless this is a dedicated macro lens, which I doubt, 2 reasons: Its a zoom of normal range (70-200) and Canon only have 1 dedicated macro lens in their entire range, then it is a normal lens that has the ability to focus pretty close (usually 40cm ish).

It should be an "all-rounder", does most things.

I located the manual, its just a one touch zoom lens, designed to be able to focus closer than the normal 70-210mm zoom lens.
