lens query

i'm in need of a cheap yet decent gig lens...i was thinking 50mm

is that the best, or are there any different ones i can use?

just want a nice but cheap one as i know a lot of bands who want me to do photos for them, but i had to borrow the 50 i used last time!

any advice would be appreciated xx

I'd go for a 50 should be cheap and fast.

I've used a ball & socket head on "loose/undone" mode on top of a tripod before when i've used a zoom to stop shake at slow speeds. It allows you to move your camera around at different angles but still supports the weight. Hope this makes sense

I'm afraid no...doesn't make sense! lol

I used a ball and socket head left untightened so the camera can move around freely but still supports all the weight - you have to be careful if the lens is heavy. It allows you to use slowish speeds whille still supporting the camera enough to stop shake.
