Ive been playing with the idea of getting a canon 70-200mm f4 L usm (non is) to go on my 60D. Now though Ive been looking at the 5D mark i which sells used for around the same price. So Im thinking should I get a second body instead. Is the 5D gonna be a down grade to what I have so I should stick to new lenses. Any advice I cant decide
Just to add the 5D comes with a grip at £480 which is roughly the same as a new lens.

Is the 60D limiting you just now? If it is, why?

I always fancied the 5D but ended up getting the 60D as a gift. At the minute I have the money to get a 5D as well but dont know if I should stick to the 60D and get a lens for it instead.

Obvious question: What lens(es) do you have already for the 60D?

If any of them are EF-s, for example, you'd still need to go and buy new glass.

I would go for the lens, and to be honest I would say the only thing you would gain with a 5D is full frame, when it comes to settings you get more on the 60D than you do on the 5Dmk1. My hubby has a 50D and I have a 5Dmk1, he thought about a 2nd hand 5Dmk1 but having played with mine decided that he would hang on to the 50D and save up for an mk11 as the mk1 in many ways would be a step backwards. I love my mk1 though but I upgraded from a 500D so for me it was a massive improvement.

The 5D is a fab camera but I would always spend money on lenses before camera body!

I would also go lens first, but then again, when would you ever upgrade your camera if you always go lens first lol

You would upgrade your camera when you found yourself bumping against the limitations of the old camera in a way which the new camera would solve. There's no sign yet that the OP is in this position.

I'd purchase lenses before upgrading your body.
