Lens Insurance

Money for old rope for them. Check your house insurance.

All of my kit, such as laptops, cameras, lenses, etc are covered under the possessions insurances under my contents insurance. It's about £50-100 a year extra for the all the cover I think, but it's worth it.

I think it depends if this is professionally used gear or just hobbyist gear. Also, read the fine print of your coverage and see if you are covered outside your dwelling - which is, after all, where your lenses are most likely to suffer damage.

I pay a very reasonable annual fee to Glover and Howe for insurance, and it covers me on the road as well as at home (just as well, given that I destroyed a £600 lens on the Isle of Arran and damaged a D200 in the Brecon Beacons!)

Whwn I bought a 350D from Jessops years ago I also bought a 3 year extended warranty for about 10% of the purchase price which I considered quite reasonable.

It covered any damage etc.

I never had to use it but always felt it was wothwhile especially considering the price.
