Lens hoods

I ended up with shadows when using a lens hood + onboard flash, on another forum it was recommended to remove the hood if using flash.

Are you using the built in flash? this will often "cut off" at the bottom of the image (landscape) with the bigger hoods and again with some of the longer lens, it could happen with on camera flash if the hood is big enough especially with closer subjects.

Never had a problem when using a proper flashgun on the camera.

Always had to remove hoods, if using the camera's own in-built flash though.

Never have a problem with SB-900 - or SB-800 and lenses up to 70-200mm - I always have the hood on - in fact they're taped on!

If the hood shades the subject, which it probably will with a big lens at close range, then of course you take the flippin hood off!

What is this 'built-in flash' whereof you speak? :)

oh so true however i wish the 5DII had the commander system. Make things a little cheaper for me.
