Lens hood size

I know this is a ridiculous question but I thought I'd just make sure before I buy it. This lens hood will fit my D3100 with the kit 18-55mm, right?

Also, if possible would somebody please tell me what the benefits of the different lens hood shapes are? The one's I'm talking about are the one above, this:

and the regular HB45 round simple one.

Whatever hood the manufacturer recommends for your lens is the hood for your lens.

Well is there an official Nikon equivalent for the petal/crown shape ones? Or do I have to just get a plain round one?

Think you will find that your 18-55 is a 52mm fitting not the 58mm that you have a link to!

The only reason I was going to buy a replica is because I wanted a petal hood, but I've now been told because of the rotating front element on my kit lens you can't have a petal hood, so I'm going to buy the HB-45 from my local jessops in an hour or two
