Any recommendations as to where I can hire a Nikon lens from for the weekend. Im based in the Midlands if that helps.

Have you tried Calumet? They offer a rental service afaik
 
Unfortunately they are closing this branch in December. A real pain for me since I often hire the 70-200 IS f2.8 for £35 for the whole weekend! The online services are at least £60 due to delivery etc.

I'll be really sad to see this shop go :'(
