Has any body used one of these foe lens protection, as opposed to a filter. They seem to be a good option.

This appears to be designed to be used instead of the caps, not filter. Since I take care of my kit I see no reason to buy these.

Never used one, but I've seen them advertised in magazines for about £33? Seems expensive for what it is. I usually just leave the hood or cap on.

Not all that convenient having to put the hood off and on at the same time.
Probably gives good protection, though.

Actually it is an ND filter - about 100 stops.

I have to say I am a little esconced about things like this. For goodness sake if you have about £2.5k's worth of gear hanging around your neck, be careful!
