Yes
Im looking for a macro lens but also something that will be good for weddings or people portraits. not sure if theres a lens that will be able to do both. I have a budget of around £300 to £400.

Any recomendations or things to look out for when buying.

Thanks for you help: Dan

Used Nikon 35mm 1.8 af-s around £130 and a Sigma 105mm macro used around £220.

You have these for sale scott?

Im just looking for ideas at the minute for next pay day.

cheers

No but there is one 35mm for sale now in the classifieds and one sold earlier. I had the Tamron 90mm macro and it is regarded as one of the best available but will not focus on the D3000 . The Sigma is also very good and afaik has the inbuilt motor.

Is that just a staright 90mm? have you got the whole model number please. is it just for marco or could i do wedding and portaits?

thanks guys

Fixed short range prime lenses will always lend themselves to portrait. The most obvious choice for portrait is a 50mm 1.4/1.8 or 85mm 1.4, but a good macro does the job of both.

Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP DI Macro 1:1

Mine was the Tamron SP AF Di 90mm macro, had a quick look and can't find one with the focus motor built in.

Yep that's the one. Macro wasn't really my thing so moved it on but it was very sharp.

Sharp and cheap I do like it for that. I don't do macro enough to warrant he cost of the 105 so leave the 50 1.4 for portraits and keep this for playing. But that said as a portrait lens the 90mm does the job

Macro stuff is often manual focus, the Tamron is an excellent lens.

I also think the 50mm 1.4 AFS is a great lens, around £300 new so virtually all your budget. What do you take more of? I had a Tamron macro but found i never used it.
