Lens Creap

Yep. Buy one of those Help for Heroes rubber wrist bands.. Works a treat.

I agree with Tom on this - there was a site that sold something similar to the rubber wrist bands that stopped lens creep.... When I get a chance I'll have a search for it - but in the mean time he is actually right...

Haha yeah yeah. What lens you looking at using the band on? Im contemplating getting the 24-105......

I use a Lens Band on my Canon 17-55, the lens suffered from creep from new. The Lens Band works well, although it's nothing more sophisticated than a big elastic band.

My new 24-105 is also showing signs of creep, so I'll get another Lens Band - the black one looks better than a standard elastic band.

Where abouts does it go around the zoom twist or actually on the body its self?

It fits on the body of the lens, partly on the zoom ring, this provides some friction, stopping the creep - it's that simple!

You can "adjust" adjust the amount of friction by altering the overlap of the band between the lens body and the zoom ring.

I think I've got a spare couple at work in my drawer. They are black. I bought them when I had my MKI 18-200mm vr. They suffered badly from lens creap.
I'll try and remember to have a look tomorrow. If I've still goth them, Greg and another member can have them for free.

This was my solution for lens creep. An old rubber O ring. It was too big so I cut it with a sharp knife and joined it together with superglue.
Looks a little better than the brown rubber band I used at first...

If you've a spare one Kev that'd be great to try

Another vote here for the lensband, I have one on me Bigma and it works great. As already said, you simply "slew" it between the zoom ring and a fixed part of the lens body, if you get about a 50/50 overlap you can't even force it with your hand, great stuff.

Sorry to resurrect but also having lens creap problems. Those lens bands look just like the charity bands

I like the look of the o ring tho

They are the same as the charity bands.

Sorted. Did not want a large wide band on the lens. Thought allanm's way looked the neatest, so went into my garage and used a o ring. It was only 2" dia so a nice tight fit and sits on the camera end of the zoom ring so does not need to be moved
