Hi all,

This has bugged me for a while and I've never found a good answer to it.

Does the compression of a given focal length of a lens change on a crop sensor slr?

For example, does 200mm on a 1.6 crop camera show the same compression as it would on a full frame, or would it be the equivalent compression of 320mm?

I understand that it as it doesnt change, because the glass is the same, but im not sure...

Thanks for the thread. Think I'll move my questions over to there!

When using the same focal length, the image from a crop frame camera will be the same as a image taken on a full frame camera that has been cut/cropped down to size.
As Scott said, it's the angle/field of view that changes.
