Lens Coats for large primes

What's the deal with these camo lens coats, having never seen one close up.

What are they made of & how do they fix to the lens, are they permanent or can you take them off?

If your lens has a tripod mount you also get a strip of the neoprene material which has an self adhesive background. You just cut this strip to fit your tripod mount and stick it to the tripod mount.

This strip can be peeled off, if need be, from the tripod mount with no damage to its paintwork.

Good product - have them on several of my lenses.

They cost an awful lot given what they are, but IIRC they're handmade and neoprene is difficault to work with and are also imported from the USA, so exchange rate issues are applicable :(
 
Can you get these for any lenses?
Or only the large primes?
 
I use Buffs available from most outdoor shops, and in a range of Camo colours, I don't damage my kit so protection is not a problem, as for protecting the lens foot, for that I use plastic washers cut from old plastic bottles, I get no end of people ask me where I get them from so now I keep spares to give away:thumbs:
 
No Need I'm confident in my ability, I'm so careful I think of things others don't, ie when using the lens hoods on longer lenses they clamp into a groove, I even line the groove with strip of very thin rubber to stop it marking, which it does you only have to look at the 2nd hand ones available, the lens foot on most will also be marked yet it's easy to stop this :thumbs:

I use the Lens Covers from Wildlife Watching Supplies. Excellent product, good value, secure attachment using velco, very well camoflaged, protect from rain, dust and knocks.
 
I had one for my 300mm f/4 IS, some sort of camo. Seems more useful on white lenses.
 
Just ordered mine from :agree: Chap at the other end of the phone sounded very knowledgable about the product as well as being very helpful.
