Yes
ok It is time to decide what lens to get for my trip to silverstone.
thinking of either .
300L f4 IS
400L f5.6
or 100-400L f4.5 IS

I think the primes will be abit sharper and work better with a t/c.
but I keep going back to the 100-400 as its more versitile
what happens if i am to close to use the 300/400?
I also want the lens for wild life

all thoughts and advise welcome.
Rick

Either the 100-400 or the 300 for me as the 400 f5.6 may be a bit slow and may give auto focus issues with a tc attached.

What a great choice to have though. All are cracking bits of glass.

The 100-400mm is f/5.6 at the long end - with a 1.4TC you can get a 300mm f/4 out past that at the same aperture, and sharper.

The other way to get round your zoom requirement is the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 - again, you can slap on a TC for extra length, and have the convenience of the zoom. I bought mine over the Nikon 300mm f/4 for exactly that reason - it lives on my camera for 95% of my motorsport photography!
