Hello,

I have started to notice "dust bunnies" on my images and some watermarks on my lens. I have never cleaned my current camera, and do not have the steady hand or the confidence to clean it myself.

I am looking for a camera cleaning/servicing company. A company that will clean my sensor, mirror and lenses. Where do you guys go? I would preferably like to be able to personally drop the gear off and collect it, to prevent it getting lost or damaged in the post. Are there any major companies that do this, or would I have to find a local shop?

Also, what sort of price should I be looking at?

No, Elstree is 'just down the road' from me. The trouble is, I have no instructions other than clean! I would like them to see if anything needs doing (my 60D seems to be a tad slower at focusing now). Will they accept this?

Two questions:

1. How to I get in touch with them?

2. How much money should I expect to part with?

I sent my 100-400 to Elstree for a service. You can find the contact details on the Canon website. It may be different for cameras, but the standard charge for a lens service last summer was£110, and I have to say they were just excellent and I heartily recommend them. They actually replaced over £100 worth of bits on the lens and charged it to "good will", and the lens came back like new (I thought it spot on when I bought it second hand, but it was considerably improved).
Fast service as well, it was gone for about seven days in total.
 
We send all our lenses to Fixation in London, and always had an excellent service from them.

Appreciate its not as close as Canon Ellestree though
 
I've just had my 7D and 400mm f/4 serviced at Canon Elstree and can't recommend them highly enough. Just ask for "a service" and point out any known problems.

7D service was £66.59+vat
400mm service + focus calibration to my 7D £74.22 + vat

I collected both 9 days later in perfect nick and accurately calibrated. Happy camper!
 
We might have to have a look at them ourselves, they sound very reasonably priced!
 
You can just ask Elstree for a sensor clean instead of the full service which, I think, was listed at about £30 but you don't get the full deep clean and check that the proper service provides.
 
I would vote a million times for Elstree.

I sent a 100-400 there for servicing and repair last week, they gave me a one off fee and didn't even ask me what the problem was. Paid £182, sent it on a Monday and then I had a confirmation letter on the Friday saying it was on it's way back.

Absolutely impeccable service.
