Hi all

I have a Nikon D50 with the 18-55mm and 55-200m kits lenses.

I am going to a University graduation, so need some lens advice. I will be shooting from a wheelchair, so I assume I will be quite close to the stage, but fairly static.

It might be suggested that my 55-200mm will be fine, but if not, my budget is probably only £200 tops.

Thanks

The 55 - 200 is going to be fine as far as reach is concerned. My concern, however, would be that the maximum aperture is going to be a bit small for available light shooting indoors.

£200 isn't really going to buy you into one of the classic f2.8 zooms such as the 70-200, so I've a feeling that your best bet will be the Nikon 70-300VR if you can find one at the right price used. If you can get close enough, then the 18-55VR may do the trick for a lot less money, but frankly, the 70-300 is a better, more useful lens.

The VR will allow you to handhold for much sharper shots, at smaller apertures. You could of course, hire one from Stewart.

Borrow one that you want - or hire it from the affordable lens hire chappie on here.......I think you'll find the middle of the range will be fine. You probably won't want much more than about 100mm.

Thanks for your help.
