Hi,

I'm planning to buy a D90 in the near future and am wondering what lens to get with it. I don't want the kit lens that comes with it as i have acces to a 18-55, 18-135 & 70-200 mm lenses.

All the above lenses are nikon bit i'm wondering if it's worth looking at other brand lenses.

I've got about £600 to play with for lens and am looking for something with a wide angle to get some nice landscape shots. I'm not that clued up on lenses, so just looking to see if anyone can give me and pointers.

I was thinking of a 24-70mm lens, or is there another lens that will give me better results?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

24 - 70 on a D90 will not really be wide angle anymore: it's the equivalent of 36 - 105 on a full-frame camera.

Furthermore you already have that range covered with the other lenses you have access to.

So if your priority is getting a wide angle, I would suggest you look at the Nikon 12 24, the Tokina 12 24, the Tamron 11 18, or the Sigma 10 20. All of these have had good reviews in the past.

Additionally, there appears to be a whole range of additional wide-angle zooms by the aforementioned manufacturers on the market these days. Haven't read up on all the reviews on these, but they are:

Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II LD AF SP Aspherical Lens (IF)
Nikon 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 G AF-S DX Lens
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 AT-X PRO DX AF

With a budget of £600, you will be able to afford most of these.
