Hi All, i am after some advice please,
i have been offered a 15-80 nikkor lens for a tenner, and i think it will work on my D70s but only manually on my D40, i already have an 18-55 and my question really is, is the lens worth having and are they any good compared to the 18-55, sorry if this is a stupid question but lens confuse me as i am still trying to get to grips with the camera settings.
Many Thanks

no such lens - is that a typo? Can you give the full name of the lens you have been offered?

i will have to ask him again as i thought that was what he said it was.

Sandy, the nearest one to the lens you mention is the 16-85, maybe he means that, unless he has a real oddity.......

Sorry all i now know what it is: Nikkor AF 28-80 1:3 3-5,6G

28-80mm 3.3-5.6 AF G

The Nikon 28-80mm G works great on just about every AF and digital Nikon camera, including the D3. The only likely gotcha is that it won't autofocus on the D40 and D40x. See Nikon Lens Compatibility. for details for your camera. This is an AF (screw) and a G lens.

and if its in good condition , and going for ten quid a bargain ,take it .i think it was the equivalent " kit lens " ( hate that expression )for film cameras a few years ago ,,may have come with an f65 or something similar .

before you try, and fry your camera WAIT till one of the "flash voltage experts" gets to see the thread

you may want to start another thread in Talk Equipment

I would even be asking if the price is as stated £10 for that price is worth a punt.
